Central Region Team claimed Championship Trophy

The historical National Championship of Nepal ITF, sixth General Choi Memorial National ITF Taekwon-Do Championships has been concluded at the Eastern part of Nepal, Shahid Stadium in Biratnagar on 14-15 June 2010. Central Region clinched 11 gold and six silver medals to claim the Overall Team champion Trophy. Western Region finished second with five gold, two silvers and one bronze medal, while Tribhuvan Army Club ended up third with four gold medals and as many a silver medal. Likewise, Eastern Region claimed two gold, one silver and four bronze medals, Far-western Region won two silver and a bronze and Mid-western Region took home four bronze medals.

Hanak Limbu and Tulasha Rajthala both of Central Region were adjudged the best players. Hank and Tulasha won the three gold medals each. Tribhuvan Army Club was declared the most discipline team. Manoj Ghale of Central Region got the first gold medal beating to Gyan Prasad Khatri of Tribhuvan Army Club in the 45-51 kg final, Suraj Suar of Western Region defeated Saif Ali Khan of Central Region in the 52-57 Kg Final, Hanak Limbu of Central Region beat Tej Bahadur Bogati of Tribhuvan Army Club in the 58-64 Kg in Title match, Liladhar Basnet of Tribhuvan Army Club edged Pawan Tamang of Central in 65-71 Kg final and next Armyman Dan Bahadur Mali won the first prize losing to Dikesh Shahi of Central Region.

Ashma Shrestha and Bimala Lama of Central Region claimed the gold Medal in 40-45 kg and 58-63 kg respectively. Tulashi Thapa Magar of Central Region beat Dilu Gurung of Far-western Region in 46-51 Kg final and Tulasha Rajthala representing from Central Region defeated Malati Tamang of Far-western Region in 52-57 kg in Title match. Popular Rana and Ravaraj Gurung both of Westen Region, Hanak Limbu of Central Region and Dorna Bahadur Magar of Eastern Region won the gold medal in the Male individual pattern competition in Green, Blue, Red and Black Belt respectively while Prativa Shrestha and Sumitra Shrestha both of representing from Eastern Region, Tatarani Thapa from Western Region and Tulasha Rajthala from Central Region got the first prizes in the Female individual pattern competition in Green, Red, Blue and Black Belt respectively.

Tribhuvan Army Club won the Male Team Sparring Title Match. Likewise Central Region got the first medal in Male Team Pattern. Western Region claimed the self-Defense gold while Dorna Bahadur Magar of Eastern Region clinched the power-Breaking gold medal. Tulashi Thapa of Central Region beat Tatarani Thapa Magar to win Female’s power-Breaking competition. Likewise, Bhola Karki of Nepali Amry won the special Technique event gold while Tulasha Rajthala grabbed the championship in the Female’s section.

On the memory of founder of Taekwon-Do General Choi Hong Hi, all the players, guests, instructors, officials and spectators has bowed to General Choi Hong Hi, and made one minute silent respect to the father of Taekwon-Do. As a chief Guest of opening ceremony, Mr. Pitamber Timilsina (Vice-President of National Sport Council) has boosted up the all players inaugurating the great successful Championship organized by Eastern ITF Taekwon-Do Association, a big branch of Nepal. Many respected and distinguish Personalities were keenly attended the whole events. The Medals, Trophy and Certificates were distributed by Mr. Pitambar Timilsina, Mr. Khadaga Bahadur Ranabhat (Executive member of National Sports Council), Krishna Bahahdur Balal (President of Nepal ITF) to all winners.

Nepal International Taekwon-do Federation (Nepal ITF) has been paying the restless endeavor to become the Pioneer of Martial Artist federation not only in Nepal but also in the International Arena. Even if many kinds of unfavorable bents had been happening in 12th years history, Nepal ITF has succeed to add one next national event 8th Senior & 7th Junior National ITF Taekwon-do Championship organized by Nuwakot ITF Taekwon-do Association, a district organization of Nepal International Taekwon-Do Federation. The Championship has been concluded on 20th February 2010 in an amity environment of the historical and cultural Place of Nepal, Battar, Nuwakot.

Bagmati Zone got the success to win the overall team championship trophy with 8 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals. Likewise, The Narayani Zone became the Runner Up with 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 6 Bronze Medals. The Organizer team, Nuwakot took over the third place with 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals.  The Bheri Zone was awarded as the Best Disciplined Team. This Mega official national event for the all Nepalese ITF TKD players was held for two days from 19th to 20th February 2010 on which 104 male and 36 females in total 140 players from different 14 Zones and a organizer team participated.

In the closing ceremony, as the chief guest Mr. Pitamber Timilsina Vice President of National Sports Councial of Nepal (NSC) spoke out "I have noticed that Nepal ITF is one of the best and most active sports organization under the National Sports Council of Nepal among almost the 100 organizations in NSC." He added “I will try my best to provide the job for the Nepal ITF Instructors and I am confident that it is going to happen very soon.”  Mr. Timsina also distributed he Medals, Trophies and Certificates to winners and participants.

Executive Director General of Asian Taekwon-D Federation Kim Hyong Rak has visited Nepal from 12th to 20th September 2009. The three team delegates from Korea in leadership of Kim Hyong Rak has visited the Central Dojang of Nepal ITF, Central office of Nepal ITF, Central office of Nepal National Martial Art Games Committee and watch the infrastructure of National Sports Council of Nepal. Other two members of the delegation team are Ryang Hyok Jae, director of Korean Taekwon-Do Committee and OIm Jong Chol Secretary of Korean Taekwon-Do Committee.

He committed to support and help Nepal ITF from ATF as it is possible. He said “ I am very much happy and satisfied by the development of ITF Taekwon-Do in Nepal. This is all because of the hard group work of the entire Nepal ITF family and the good leadership of Mr. Balal”. He further said “ I congratulation all of you for the successive organization of the 1st South Asian ITF Taekwon-Do Championship and thanks on behalf of ATF for your hard work to unite the South Asian ITF peoples on one rope.” Nepal ITF had successfully organized the 1st South Asian ITF Taekwon-Do Championship in the December of 2008. And, now in preparation for the 2nd Edition of South Asian TKD Championship. The executive director said “ ATF will support with full spirit to make the 2nd South Asian TKD Championship more success.”

Professor Ung Chang re-elected as ITF President

Professor Chang Ung was elected as president of the International Taekwon-Do Federation by the General Assembly in Saint Petersburg Russia on 13 October 2009. He elected for another four year term by a unanimous vote during the ITF Congress.

The IOC member has been doing his best to promote taekwon-do (ITF) as world wide popularity and to make it Olympic sports. He has established him a great leader of ITF Taekwon-Do after the death of the founder of Taekwon-Do General Choi Hong Hi.
Professor Chang Ung has been leading the ITF Taekwon-Do as the president of International Taekwon-Do federation after the death of General Choing Hong Hi on 15th of June 2002.
Professor Chang Ung is also the president of International Martial Art Games Committee.

Palpa Claims the Championship Trophy

The official National Championship of Nepal International Taekwon-Do Federation, Second Manmohan Memorial National ITF Taekwon-Do Championship has been concluded on 16th of September 2009. The Championship was held on the beautiful city of Nepal Tansen, Palpa.

The organizer team, Palpa, won the Championship trophy with Nine Gold, Six Sliver and Three Bronze Medals, where as the last edition champion central region secured Second Position with Nine Gold, One Silver and Five Bronze Medals. Western Region secured Third Position with Three Gold, Eight Silver and Seven Bronze Medals and the Nepal Army Team on fourth position with Two Gold and Four Silver Medals. The Mega national event was held for two days from 16th to 17th September 2009 where 90 selected players from different regions of Seven Teams participated.

Jhalak Bahadur Magar of Palpa District was adjudged the Best Player in Men's Sparring while Mamata Thapa Magar, also of Palpa, was declared the Best Player in Female Category. Both Best Players got the special trophy with One Hundred and Ten Dolor Cash Prize.

"We are more inspired by the Championship as the new players has performed well" said the president of Nepal International Taekwon-Do Federation Krishna Bahadur Balal "New players has shown up the great performance and they made their team (outside of capital) to won the Championship, this is the great symbol for the future of ITF Taekwon-Do in Nepal." Rising young players from the out of Valley has grabbed the more gold medals and won the heart of the thousands of spectators there.

This is the second edition of the Manmohan Memorial National ITF TKD Championship, which has been organizing since 2007 on the memory of the popular leader of Nepal Ex. Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari.

The opening ceremony of the Championship has been opened by Som Prasad Pandey who is well-known social worker and Parliament Member of Nepal. Mr. Pandey has addressed the opening ceremony, which was followed by the Chief District Officer of Palpa District, different political leaders of the District, Vice President of Nepal ITF Kumar Thapa and the Chief of Western ITF Rewat Rana. Nepal Army Officer, Nepal Police Officer and other social workers are the guest for the opening and closing ceremony.

Nepal ITF officials including the president Krishna Bahadur Balal donates the blood today here in the Kathmandu. Nepal International Taekwon-Do Federation is on the way of the celebration of the 12th Anniversary of its establishment and today is the 8th Day of the Ceremony.

On the blood donation program that organized in the Blood Bank of Red Cross,  Vice President Anju Nath Shrestha, Secretary General Omkar Budha Magar, Members G.L.  Chapain, Anju Rawat , Anjan Dhamala, Tham Bahadur Bahik, Biswa Shrestha and other central members has also donated their Blood. Like wise players, Instructors and supporters also donates the blood by which more than 50 point blood collected. To celebrate the Anniversary Nepal ITF has been organizing Blood Donation since 2004.

This year Nepal ITF is celebrating the 12th Anniversary for 12 days, where the eight days black belt seminar concluded yesterday where 250 black belts of Nepal ITF through out the country has participated. Chief Instructor Anju Nath Shrestha and the Senior Instructor and President of NITF Krishna Bahadur Balal conducted the Seminar.
The NITF officials are going to feed the elders in the Elder care center tomorrow. NITF will organize the dinner program for them in the Center where almost 300 elders are staying.

In the last day of celebration on the date of 6th August 2009, the closing ceremony of the 12th Anniversary Celebration program will be conducted where the best player of the year, the best dojang, association and Instructor will be announced as well the supporters for the last year will be honored.

Another historic success comes on the way of ITF Taekwon-Do Development of Nepal along with Nepal ITF. For the first time in the history of ITF Taekwon-Do in Nepal and in Nepal ITF, the Nepali Army Team has participated on the 5th General Choi National Taekwon-do Championship-2009. The event took place in the Bulls Indoor Sports Hall of Kathmandu, Nepal from June 14-15, 2009.

ITF Taekwon-Do was launched in Nepal in 1999 by establishing Nepal International Taewkon-Do Federation. After then, Nepal ITF has struggled in a progressive way to promote ITF Taekwon-Do throughout the Nepal. After almost eight years, Nepal ITF was recognized by the government of Nepal in 2006. Since then, ITF Taekwon-Do event has been included in the National Government Sports Festival in the beginning of 2009. This opened the door to launching ITF Taekwon-Do in the governing body in a practical way which made it possible to start ITF Taekwon-Do in the Nepali Army. And, it makes the another history as the Nepali Army team participated for the first time in the 5th General Choi National Taekwon-Do ITF Championship-2009. “We feel this as the honour of General Choi on his passed way anniversary, which, carries his though on the development of real Taewkon-Do” Said the president of Nepal ITF Krishna Bahadur Balal. He added “This is the important step on the success of ITF Taekwon-Do as the departmental team of Nepal Army has participated and this opens the door to start ITF Taekwon-Do in Nepal Police and Arm Police Force”

In the championship one hundred sixty players from different 14 zonal Teams and a Nepali Army team has participated. Where the Bagmati zone claimed 10 gold medals to win the team championship, Lumbini zone finished second with five gold medals, while Narayani came third with four gold medals. Nepali Army team won four gold medals as well best discipline team award. Nepali Army player Tej Bahadur Bogati adjudged the best player on the senior male weight, where Dhan Maya Dangi of Rapti Zone won best player in senior female and Bagmati duo Krishna Tamang and Puja Giri declared the best players in junior male and female section respectively.

ITF Taekwon-Do in 5th National Games

"Is this the real Taekwon-Do?" a spectator asked to his fellow player when the ITF Taekwon-Do was processing on the heart of the Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. "Before I see this event, I thought Taekwon-Do was the game of just kicking but now I know, Taekwon-Do is the great art of Kicking and Punching as well".

The dialogues like mentioned above are the examples of the popularity of ITF Taekwon-Do in Nepal as thousands of peoples and players come to know about the real Tekwon-do when the national sports council of Nepal includes the ITF event in its historical 5th National Games. This is the first time in the history of Nepal that the ITF games has been recognized as the National Games of Nepal and included in the Government Level Mega Events. Karate, Wushu, WTF Taekwon-Do, Judo and Wrestling are the other martial art events that included in the National Games along with ITF. There were separate rings for the every event in the same place and martial art lovers watched every event and judge themselves which is the best.

The 7th ITF National Championship has been held in Kathmandu Nepal from  7th to 8th April as the part of the Fifth National Games of Nepal. Altogether different 32 sports categories are selected for the national games including ITF Taekwon-Do, where only 21 sports are the official one to count the medal for the games and ITF also makes it place among 21. This is the great achievement of Nepal ITF in its history. "The hard labour and dedication of the entire Nepal ITF Team as well the thousands of players and hundreds of Instructors make this possible to recognize ITF Taekwon-Do as a part of the 5th National Games of Nepal." said Nepal ITF President Krishna Bahadur Balal "Finally we proved that the strong dedication and hard work results the success. Now our players' life is more bright." 5th National Games has been watched by the 18 thousand spectators in the Main Stadium of Nepal and Millions of people watched it LIVE through the different Television Channel including the Nepal Television, the government owned Channel.

The 5th National game kicked off on 6th April and concluded in 12th April 2009. Two Hundred ITF players have demonstrated their technique in group in the opening ceremony which has the great value to increase the popularity of ITF Taekwon-Do in Nepal. The Demonstration catches the feelings and heart of thousands of people by the accurate timing and mass pattern demonstration. "This is really the pride for every ITF Taekwon-Do family members, that the NSC has believed us for this demonstration." said the president of Nepal ITF Krishna Bahadur Balal . Other two demonstrations are from Karate and Wushu. The huge clapping after the demonstration of Nepal ITF in the leading of the Chief Instructor Anju Nath Shrestha, from the 18 thousands spectators, proved the quality of ITF Taekown-Do and its techniques. The honorable president of Nepal His Excellency Mr. Ram Baran Yadam, The honorable Prime Minister Mr. Pushpa Kama Dahal, Speaker of the Parliament Mr. Subash Chandra Nemwang, Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Gopal Sakya and other ministers, parliament members, political leaders watched the ITF Demonstration in the Opening Ceremony.

The Fifth National Games was opened by the president of Nepal and the prime minister of Nepal was the Chief Guest on the closing ceremony.

The ITF Championship was held from 7th to 8th of April 2009. The players for the National Games were selected two month before from the different regions in the assistance of National Sports Council of Nepal. The selected 60 players from the different part of the country have participated for the different category.
